A Basant day on a Lahore roof means hours in the open, so plan for shade, cold water, somewhere to sit and light for the stairs. The roof needs walls or grills at least 3.5 feet high and a first-aid kit, and loud music and DJ systems are banned, so we sell no speakers. We plan to stock caps, mats, canopies, sunscreen, power banks, cooler boxes and lights.

Comfort and safety basics for a long day on the roof: caps, floor mats, a shade canopy, sunscreen, power banks, cooler boxes, and flood and torch lights for the evening.
Everything here is chosen for a roof that is busy with flyers and dor (ڈور): low, tied down and out of the way. None of it makes noise, and none of it throws a beam where it shouldn't. Each card shows a drawn kite until we can photograph the real stock.
Shade for long afternoons on the roof.
Somewhere to sit that isn't hot concrete.
Anchored low and clear of flying lines.
Keeps phones charged for photos and QR checks.
Cold water within reach on the roof.
Point it at the sky, never at roads or neighbours.
For stairs and roof edges after dark.
Anchor a canopy low and to one side, well away from where kites launch and land, and tie down every corner against gusts.
A cap, sunscreen, a mat to sit on, and more cold drinking water than you expect, kept in a cooler box in the shade.
A flood light pointed straight up and a torch for the stairs and roof edges; never shine a light at roads, neighbours or aircraft.
Kite flying is legal only on the days, and within any hours, the Deputy Commissioner notifies, so lights don't extend the festival. White and yellow kites are easier to follow in a dim sky. We don't sell laser lights: their beams can dazzle pilots and drivers.
Speakers and anything else that makes noise, because loud music and DJ systems are banned, and any store of flammable material.
The Punjab Home Department's Basant 2027 directions also require owners to keep electricity wires near rooftops properly protected, ban storing flammable material on rooftops, require safety certificates for lifts during the festival, and make first-aid equipment mandatory at authorised kite-flying locations. LESCO is to fit safety netting to vulnerable installations and clear kites from poles and wires, and the Parks and Horticulture Authority is to remove kites caught in trees. Unsafe or illegal activity can be reported on Emergency Helpline 15.

So that at least one phone always has enough charge to call Rescue 1122, with some left over for photos.
A long day of photos and video drains phones fast. Charge the power bank the night before, keep it in the shade with the water, and agree which phone stays charged for emergencies.
